Elementary Grade Programs

JA’s elementary school programs are the foundation of our K-12 curricula.  Students learn about their local and national economies, and the role they play in them; the difference between needs and wants; and important soft skills like teamwork, communication, and collaboration.

Program Delivery

We offer two volunteer delivery methods for JA elementary:

  • JA in a Day – Volunteer(s) delivers a full grade program to students during a full-day classroom visit.
  • JA Weekly – Volunteer(s) deliver each program lesson once a week in 5-6 visits lasting 30 minutes each (K-2nd grades) or 45 minutes each (3rd-5th grades). Visits take place during school hours.

JA programs correlate to New York Learning Standards  for social studies for grades K-12 as well as the Common Core standards in English/Language Arts and mathematics.
